Alumni and RetireesAlumni and retirees not returning to campus next term who want to continue using the computing services included in the Basic Computing Package have several options.Graduating students, as well as students who leave the University but do not graduate, will continue to receive their current computing services for as long as their department lists them as "Active in Program." (This status typically continues for six weeks after the last term completed.) Students leaving U-M who wish to continue using ITCS computing services may do so by subscribing to U-M Online. Retirees are eligible to subscribe to U-M Online services immediately upon retirement. However, retirees can continue using their ITCS e-mail mailbox after they retire and therefore may not need to subscribe to U-M Online unless they want additional services, such as an IFS home directory. The U-M Online service costs $9.96 a month. Dial-In AvailableDial-in service is also available at an additional charge.NOTE: The U-M dial-in service offered through U-M Online will be discontinued as of January 2, 2007 (more detail). Subscribers in Michigan, New York City, and Washington, D.C. can use the MichNet dial-in service for $6.00 a month. The most economical way to connect to U-M Online services outside of the MichNet area is to use a local Internet Service Provider (ISP). The University offers national dial-in options in the event that you do not have access through a local provider.
