Why is my credit card billed on a different date each month?
For people whose U-M Online account charges are charged to a credit card, the ITCS Accounts Office runs the billing as close to the sixth day of each month as possible. (If the sixth day falls on a weekend, the Accounts Office staff runs the billing the following Monday.) The billing records are sent to the bank, which, in turn, charges your credit card company. It's a timing issue; because there are other service providers involved in addition to the Accounts Office, all of whom have different cutoff dates and bill dates, the bill date on your credit card account will vary somewhat from month to month.
One other point about payment by credit card: If you close the credit card account against which your U-M Online charges are charged, make sure you notify the ITCS Accounts Office of the new credit card to be charged to avoid any disruption in your U-M Online service.
